Presbyopia is the natural worsening of vision and inability to focus up close with age that usually begins at the age of 40 and older. This natural aging process results in patients requiring reading glasses to see at near or multifocal glasses to see in general. Similar to a camera lens, the cornea and lens of the human eye focuses the light rays and focus them at a focal point on the retina, resulting in a sharp image that is transmitted to the brain. The lens of the eye can change shape to focus on objects at different distances. As we get older, the lens becomes less flexible and starts losing its ability to change shape to adjust its focus. As a result, all human beings over 40 have difficulty seeing sharply at all distances and eventually require reading glasses or contact lenses to focus on near objects.
Through the increasing inflexibility of the lens and other biomechanical changes within the eye, the light rays from close objects cannot be focused on the focal point of the retina. As a result, objects at a short distance appear out of focus.
Presbyopia can occur concurrently with other spectacle errors such as near-sightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and even normal vision. Fortunately, I have the latest and most advanced laser equipment at Crystal Eye and Laser Centre to help people with presbyopia achieve vision in focus at all distances again.
Whether you are ready to take the plunge into a world of crystal clear vision, or just have a few questions for me, feel free to drop me a line.

I'm proud to have earned glowing reviews from patients who I've helped own their vision allowing them to enjoy a life free from the constraints of glasses and contact lenses. I'm humbled by the the overwhelming positive online reviews on Google.
