Potential complications of keratoconus include:
I always try to treat the cornea in such a way that the vision can be best corrected with glasses. That is why I always go out of my way and endeavour to spare a patient’s own cornea. My main aim is to ALWAYS try and prevent a corneal transplant. I live by the motto that "there is no better cornea on the market than your own!"
Keratoconus is a disease of the cornea (the clear tissue in the front of the eye). Keratoconus causes a thinning of the central cornea and eventual bulging which in turn causes vision loss. It usually affects both eyes.
